The "IS" wins an award

During the Trophées Sporsora awards ceremony for sports industry leaders, held on Monday, November 26th, 2012 at the Marigny theater in Paris, the IS received a Special  Mention award in recognition of our commitment to sustainable development. The joint chiefs of the Experts’ Committee, Laura Flessel (two-time Olympic medalist) and Sophie Auconie (member of the European Parliament) bestowed this important award upon the Quarterback Agency, owners and organizers of the IS tournament.

For the past three years, the organizers of the Internationaux de Strasbourg have undertaken extensive measures to make sure the tournament is truly an eco-friendly event and a global CSR benchmark.

Backed by the French government’s environmental protection and energy conservation agency, ADEME (Agence de l’Environnement et de la Maé®trise de l’Energie), in its sustainable development approach, the tournament’s organizers have successfully:

* Reduced CO₂ emissions by 20% since 2009 by implementing initiatives on every level and every aspect of the event (3 official carbon footprint surveys prove our progress)

* Boosted public awareness among the event’s many spectators (20,000 people attended the week-long event in both 2011 and 2012), sponsors, suppliers, but also the players

* Supported charitable causes by, for example, orchestrating a benefit auction for the ICM brain and spine medical research institute and spotlighting handisport through a wheelchair tennis exhibition match on the main court

The IS organizers aim to leverage the event as a genuine medium to communicate not only about the core values inherent in sports, but also other important values so as to motivate an active change in people’s behavior.
