4 Frenchwomen were in the running. Amandine HESSE, Elsa JACQUEMOT and Jessika PONCHET were defeated, but Chloé PAQUET pulled off a surprise by beating Sofia KENIN (USA) on her 11th match point(!): 6-4, 7-6 to reach the 2nd qualifying round.
