Current events bring us face to face with the reality that, while one part of the planet is suffocating and cruelly short of water, another is underwater. Today, more than ever, it's essential that we all play our part in reducing our environmental impact and contributing to a sustainable future. That's why, in 2010, the WTA Strasbourg Tournament<\/strong>, presented by mammotion<\/strong> are committed to a voluntary approach to sustainable development<\/mark>,<\/strong> positioning itself as the precursors<\/strong><\/mark> in the organization of an sustainable sports event.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognising that reducing environmental impact requires a holistic approach, the Internationaux de Strasbourg, presented by MAMMOTION, have been working on cross-cutting initiatives over the past 14 years, with a view to continuous improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is how, by taking on put sustainability at the heart of its strategy,<\/mark><\/strong> que les IS, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s par MAMMOTION ont gagn\u00e9 en prestige et obtiennent \u00e0 ce jour le statut de 1st<\/sup> French sustainable sports event and worldwide recognition as a \"Green\u201d reference in tennis.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The most recent carbon audit showed that there has been a 60% reduction in emissions per spectator between 2010 and 2023,<\/mark><\/strong> encouraging result was made possible by a strategy to reduce environmental impact, supported by all those involved in the Strasbourg International Tennis Tournament, presented by MAMMOTION.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, alongside the world\u2019s biggest sporting events, the Strasbourg International, presented by MAMMOTION, aims tointensify their engagements<\/mark><\/strong> as well as the means used, and it is in this sense that they deploy their ethical charter<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This charter is the starting point for a more ambitious strategy for the coming years, in favor of a more sustainable future. Its aim is to reaffirm the values of the tournament, and to formalize and guide future actions. It is also intended to inspire collective action, so that all our stakeholders (the public, the organization, volunteers, players, service providers, partners, local authorities, etc.) play their part in building a sustainable future. In this sense, the charter will be regularly shared and enriched to adapt to changes in our environment and to new obstacles. The IS ethical charter will thus become our common compass. <\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of this eco-friendly initiative, in 2016, the Internationaux de Strasbourg, presented by MAMMOTION, were awarded a prize by the CNOSF (French National Olympic and Sports Committee) the label \"D\u00e9veloppement Durable, le Sport s'Engage\".<\/mark><\/strong> In June 2022, at the Ecosport Awards ceremony, the IS received the award for the most committed sporting event of the year.<\/mark> <\/strong>This award, presented by the Sustainable Development Committee of the Union Sport et Cycle, recognises all the environmental initiatives implemented by the Internationaux de Strasbourg, presented by MAMMOTION, over the past twelve years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Strasbourg International, presented by MAMMOTION, is one of the major sporting events signatories of the \u201cCharter of 15 eco-responsible commitments\u201d of the French Ministry of Sports and WWF.<\/mark> <\/strong>These agreements target 15 quantified objectives designed to make respect for the environment an essential criterion in the organization of major sporting events and the management of sports facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CARBON OFFSETTING OF RESIDUAL TRACE<\/mark><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Since 2021, the IS, presented by MAMMOTION, have been funding, with the support of the Engie Fondation,<\/strong><\/mark> a carbon contribution project, certified by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition's Low-Carbon label<\/mark><\/strong>, label guaranteeing this system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This funding was used for a reforestation project in two of our Alsatian forests, located in Mollkirch and Andlau respectively.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These had been destroyed by bark beetle attacks and each year suffer the consequences of climate change: drought, water stress, premature death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This carbon offset project positions the Strasbourg International, presented by MAMMOTION as<\/strong> the<\/strong> 1st<\/sup> carbon-neutral tennis tournament on the professional circuit.<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is still a long way to go on the path to sustainable sport, but the Strasbourg International, presented by MAMMOTION, is committed to setting an example and invites all its stakeholders to share in this common vision,<\/mark><\/strong> that of exemplary, virtuous tennis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
